Transcendence

The technological singularity (also, simply, the singularity) is the hypothesis that the invention of artificial super intelligence (ASI) will abruptly trigger runaway technological growth, resulting in unfathomable changes to human civilization. This future event could also be what is described in Revelation 13 as man's crowing achievement in the creation of the image of the beast; the awakening of self conscious, artificial intelligence.

And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever. Genesis 3:22
